It's about Breaking Habits

People state, after coming to see you I feel new, great, calmer, at peace, i don't have negativity ... but within some time (week to two weeks on average) those old patterns start coming back. Why is that? Why can't we hold on to those good feelings?

Well what we are talking about here are habits, in all its varieties. In the ultimate sense, it is simply the patterns of our being and consciousness. They give way to repeated neuro-pathways slowly forming habits. Habits or tendencies of the body such as in the muscles (some holding tight, others slack), connective tissues of organs, alignment of bones ... all influence our mood, characteristics, personality etc.

The body creates a habitual way of holding itself in space. These habits are created through a compilation of factors that include but are not limited to:
1) Life experiences (this life or previous)- how we interpret them,
2) Stresses - physical, emotional, mental, spiritual - our ability to handle them
3) Karma.

We first start forming habits as toddlers. As we repeat certain actions or ways of being, we strengthen those neuropathways that in turn slowly create our habits. Considering reincarnation, we recognize that we are definitely not starting from scratch. Spiritualist believe that the habits (or latent tendencies) of our previous births carry over to this and future lifetimes. So our tendencies to feel, to think, to be, or excel in certain arenas are all intertwined with Karma and the habits we have already created. Some habits are good for our evolution and spiritual maturity, and some are not.

With the unique blend of Transformative healing and Chiropractic, we are literally looking at strengthening and supporting the healthy pathways, while weeding out the unhealthy ones. How is this done? Well unhealthy habits whether stemming from the spiritual, mental, emotional, or physical realm will cause a discord, dissonance, disharmony, or turbulence in the being of the person.

Lets take a look at a common example, lets say a person comes due to a physical pain. She has a highly mental & stressful job as well as unresolved family problems.
The issue here is a little tricky. She wants one thing, but in order to truly receive it, other issues must be resolved first. Here, we first have to assist her to work out the many years of turbulence deposited into the mental field. This is where the root of the issues for this person lies. By resolving the distortions created in the mental field she is easing the overall tensions of the consciousness. Mental tension works its way neurologically, hormonally, musculoskeletally etc. It influences all aspects of being including emotional, immuneal, and physically.
The progress of her healing is paced in accordance to her own capacity to integrate these experiences. As she allows herself to receive the healing, she starts to surrender to the experiences, thus letting go of the tensions she had created around them. Doing this allows her to harmonize the areas within that were exacerbating tensions, distortions, and imbalance. Now, reaching this state, instead of temporarily getting rid of physical pain, she is able to handle her mental stresses better.
So here are the major components that play a role on the overall results:
1) The persons faith and trust in the process, herself, the Supreme
2) The persons willingness to change
3) Divine Grace
4) The ability of the practitioner to be an instrument for healing
5) Karma

If these major components are aligned than healing is deep, profound, and long lasting. However, the issue that rises is, most of these patterns are very deeply rooted, and carried over from previous births. If the karma of that pattern is near completion than the healing could expedite the process. Most times, there are still a lot to resolve. In such a case we might not be able to completely uproot the issue, but we could make significant steps towards that goal while providing a better quality of life for the person during this process.

The reason people with excruciating pains get wonderful results is because they will do what it takes; there is a very high motivation in play. If we apply this level of motivation to resolving issues at the spiritual, mental, emotional level, the outcome would be exponentially greater than just the physical. Naturally consideration of ones age, strength, stamina, and endurance comes into play here, but for all intended purposes we are considering all factors aligned. To share an example, my friend Diego had a horrific motorcycle accident, crushing his spine at multiple segments, leaving him paralyzed from the chest down, internal bleeding, cauda equina syndrome and the list went on. He was told that without immediate medical intervention, no later than 72 hours, he would end up dead. Well he refused surgery and called in a chiropractor who flew into Mexico (where the accident took place) to work on this shattered body. Receiving an adjustment every 1-4 hours, Diego slowly started gaining his functions. In a short time started walking without the use of any support. Throughout the time he was going through this process he never once thought or entertained the idea that he will not walk. He was not in denial, but rather, it was never a possibility for him.

The thing is, Healing is a process, for most people, it is not spontaneous. It requires work and effort from both the giver and the receiver. If one has the attitude of "heal me", and does not engage in the process, then the service will be done to the greatest capacity of the persons will. If the will says, "My life is comfortable, whether good or bad, these are my habits and there is no reason for me to get rid of them", then the healer's capacity to serve is significantly limited. The healer will offer, but the person will only take a very small portion of the offering. As a result, the person will receive a tiny portion of what is available to him/her.

Most people who get the best results come in frequently, steadily, and consistently. This allows them to make small sequential steps in their evolution. It also provides them a safe and nurturing way to unravel, slowly breakthrough unwanted habits in a comfortable and non-threatening way.

Dr. Gaurish/Ara provided volunteer chiropractic services to one of the big events put up by the disciples of Sri Chinmoy; the 6 & 10 Day Self Transcended Race. This article is a excerp of a larger one put together by Utpal who interviewed and journalized the event. You could read the whole article at http://perfectionjourney.org/2009/04/25/meant-for-this-world/
Many Blessings
With Love Light Service
Gaurish /Ara

“This is my first day at the race and I am having fun. Particularly with that last person. She was very entertaining. She will be running along a lot easier now. ” Gaurish has volunteered to help in medical today and already the results canbe seen in the happy faces of his patients. More importantly it will be experienced in the ease of the miles they will cover after his amazing chiropractic offering.

Bigalita who was his patient as I came along had drawn a large audience with her initial noisy reaction to his work. Now she is laughing as she says, “he pulled me and pushed me and prodded me.” I ask her if she feels better, and she says, “I don’t know yet.” Gaurish adds, “do you notice she is laughing more?” Sure enough the moment she is back on the course I see her lightly running away. This will be the first time she has been able to run in days.

Healing: the mechanisms, losing & regaining health

In the very beginning, we first have an experience. Now just to be thorough, we are having this experience because it is are karma to have it. We have an opportunity of endless possibilities to interpret that experience physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. The interpretations will directly determine the direction of ones health and well being on all levels. Here karma plays its secondary role. Karma will lean us towards a certain group of possibilities. On one extreme, if that experience is fully integrated and we are not phased by it, then there is no problems, on the contrary, we use that very experience to shine brighter. However if we are not at a state to fully integrate the experience, we go to a different category. Whether partially or completely, this is where most of us find ourselves. Here we process as much of the experience as we can, while burying the rest of the un-integrated experiences deep within us (this holds true whether speaking in physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual terms). So just like when we bury something in the ground, the ground has to make room for that which is now occupying its space, similarly our body will have to distort in order to create space for this un-integrated experience, so our body (including the aura, chakras, subtle bodies etc.) goes through a process of distortions. This process is called Subluxation. Looking at this word we see "Sub" meaning less, Lux meaning Light, and ation meaning a condition of. So as our body goes through this transformation we are calling subluxation, it is reducing the amount of light we are shining through. This is a safety mechanism for several reasons.
1. If our ability to adapt is not limited, too much light is blinding to us and could even burn us.
2. Light is a medium used to gather information, if we are still having difficulty processing the information given to us (the experiences), then we don't need more coming in.

The issue that arises is, if we are in the dark or in a very dim lighting, we could not do our job or tasks very effectively. Shorty after a subluxation the body experiences a lack of harmony/dys-ease(lack of ease). Being uncomfortable is a great motivator to regain peace. To bring peace back, we have to integrate that which we have buried inside. If the un-ease is not enough motivation for us, then the body gives an outer and more visible manifestation of discomfort. It brings forth a symptom and if the symptom is not enough of a motivator, then the symptom gets worse until inevitably it turns to disease (which really is still a symptom, just a very serious one). A complete cycle of this multi step process could take as long as several decades.

So depending on where one is in the process of healing will determine what the body will go through. If there needs to be a cleansing process initially, to resolve the effects of symptoms, then the first process will be the releasing of toxins into the blood stream which results in a temporary exacerbation of symptoms (physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually). After this cleansing process is finished, the second stage of healing starts. Here ultimately, the body reduces or eliminates the symptoms. If one is still engaged in regaining health, they enter into the next stage where the body starts regaining harmony. It will once again go through a cleanse (deeper this time) in order to resolve the effects of dys-harmony. Interestingly enough, during this stage, some of those old symptoms that we thought were resolved come back until the cleanse is complete. After this is done, one step at a time we get closer and closer to harmony. The beauty of this unfolding is, when seriously engaged in the healing process, we start really expanding the possibilities of interpretations of experiences. In each stage, we have a sense of greater and greater peace.

But on the other hand if we are chasing symptoms, health in its true sense could not be attained. There are many stages and cycles where symptoms are "active" and also stages where symptoms are "not" expressive (again, symptoms could be physical, emotional, mental, spiritual). This is why symptoms are not a good gauge to determine ones health. Sometimes, its a sign of a cleansing ... a sign of health & healing, while other times it is a indicator that something is not working properly.

In the beginning processes of each stage - when the body has to do a lot of clean up, it is natural for symptoms to be expressive. This is just the way the body cleans out the garbage. Lets take an extreme example to illustrate this clean up process. A heroin addict making full effort to quiet his drug habits ... goes to a special rehabilitation center to come off of the drugs. While there, he goes through many nights of restlessness and cold sweets, the shakes, fevers, freak out episodes etc. This goes on and on as the body continues to work towards regaining stability, harmony, and balance. Stopping or interfering with this process is stopping/interfering the detox process which is stopping/interfering the healing.
The depth of which we heal is synonymous to the depth or intensity of which we want to heal. If it is something that we want with the core of our being ... a "do or die" so to say, then it will be resolved. However, if there is some subtle part of us feeling scared or nervous to resolve issues, then that will limit our healing experience.

Benefits of Group Healing

Many people when first starting care wonder why does Dr. Ara/Gaurish have group sessions? And also say “Well I don’t feel comfortable when other people are there” or even might say, “Well I don’t think I get as much attention as I do when I am by myself”

These questions and inquiries have bought us here to give you a clearer understanding of what is actually taking place in our group sessions.

There are several factors in group healing that provide deeper healing than a one-on-one session … and outside of rare instances brought about either by a devastating disease or severe symptoms, it is most often preferred.

Healing at a core is not designed to be comfortable, Ask yourself, when does a person heal? Is it during times of great comfort, or lack of comfort? Where is the motivation to heal; when one is fully engaged in comfort?

For healing to take place a strong desire for change is needed, for most people that desire comes only in situations of unease. Sometimes for some people, the group setting provides that, and so as healing is taking place (given they are willing), they integrate the issues. Many other times people share their experiences with me, mentioning intense emotional outbursts or extreme unease for a day or two, followed by great peace and joy thereafter- this is an example of healing in the emotional plane. Others report a lot of mental turbulence after a session followed by stillness and a sense of calmness or humor that was long missing in their life. This is the nature of healing. Most times there is a breaking down process followed by a building up process. This is a uniform law of nature that can be seen internally and externally (the lungs expanding and contracting, the digestive system, breaking down to build up a new, our muscle expanding and contracting, the mountains forming, valleys forming, waves of the ocean etc…)

With group healing we are providing an opportunity for a lot of unintegrated experiences to come to the surface and be healed. How does this happen? Well our body is constructed as a symphony of music, and if one person on the table is experiencing healing, everyone around experiences it as well. Think of it like striking a string on a guitar, if you listen carefully, some of the other strings will vibrate as well (not only on that guitar, but any string instrument in the room that are tuned alike). So here we are seeing one person who has a great will and momentum to heal and is providing a floor for all around to do the same.

There was a study done to illustrate this point. The study was focused on the effects of an act of kindness, and so the outcome here was as follows: One receiving an act of kindness experienced healing, one doing the act of kindness experienced healing and interestingly enough, the observers of an act of kindness also experienced healing. Why is this so? Because the chord of healing has been struck, radiating and penetrating all that are in its path.

Just as group chanting, group meditating, or group praying has greater resonance and power than doing it alone; group healing has greater effects than individual setting. This works in an exponential process. So the outcome is always greater than its individual components.

Now if the mind of one being served is active and turbulent, it will not be able to sense what is taking place. That is not to say that the person is not benefiting from the service; simply that he/she does not sense what he/she is receiving because he/she is focusing on superficial sensations. This is similar to a child being given a good and delicious nutritious meal but is utterly focusing on a television show, the child still benefits from the nutrition within the meal but if you were to ask him how it was, he would not authentically be able to recall.

Chiropractic - More than just relieving symptoms

Now before I get started on this topic, let me say that there are many forms of chiropractic and even more interpretations of them. As a matter of fact it will be authentic to say that there are as many interpretations of chiropractic as there are chiropractors or people who have been served by chiropractors and so, that being said, I am not here to debate or argue with peoples belief systems, I respect each and every belief whether they are contrary or complimentary to mine. As far as the way I serve chiropractic, this is what I feel to be true at this point in time.

People usually come to us with a wide variety of health concerns, conditions, and disease. Their main focus is to be relieved of these elements. And so in their view, they are looking for an alternative to traditional methods of which they have lost much faith in. So in their paradigm of thinking, they are indeed looking for an alternative to medicine.

But what does this really mean and how does one become an alternative to medicine? Well, first and forth most. To be an alternative to something, that means that one is looking to reach the same goals as another, with a slight variation of an approach or method. Now chiropractic does not have the same objectives nor goals as medicine and therefore cannot be an alternative to it. Although many benefits are received and symptoms alleviated, Chiropractic is something separate and distinct.

The medical model is based on MECHANISM. Which means what? Simply that
  1. Everything about human beings can be completely explained through physical causes (in mechanical terms), as surely as can everything about clockwork.
  2. We are nothing more than the sum of our physical parts.
  3. Parts that aren’t working properly can be fixed without worrying about the rest similar to a car or a clock.
This is the cornerstone through which traditional medicine determines and delivers its treatments or prescriptions.

Now, on the other hand, the Chiropractic Model is based on VITALISM. It states that:
  1. Vital energies are active in living organisms … that life cannot be explained solely by physical means; that science of physical matter, provides great information but also has great limitations when looking at the overall picture and that there are other sciences that have yet been left untapped regarding the human body, being, and experiences.
  2. We are more than the sum of our physical parts. That indeed, there are many elements beyond what our mortal eyes could see! There is at the very least the:
    a. Physical Body,
    b. Emotional Body
    c. Mental Body
    d. Spiritual Body
Each of these vehicles are temples, all together fused as one, and are in a delicate balance with each other. This balance determines ones nature, being, interpretations, and experiences.
  3. We could only function properly as a coordinated whole, thus coherent throughout. So parts not working properly results from a lack of coordination, a lack of coherency, or injuries between or within these 4 lower bodies.
This is why chiropractic is not another alternative to medicine; we come from a completely different paradigm of thinking of which does not treat or fix any symptoms, conditions or disease. Now we personally feel that symptoms alone are not a good gauge to determine the health of a person. As a matter of fact:
one can have symptoms and be sick,
one can have no symptoms and be Healthy but also
one can have symptoms and be Healthy or
one can have no symptoms and be sick.

There are plenty of examples out there that provide evidence for this, of which I will not spend time on here. For now consider it a possibility that sometimes the body goes through certain experiences that may be uncomfortable for us initially but result in great benefits and other times the pores are clogged to such a degree that it could not eliminate what it does not need and so we do not experience these uncomfortable events displayed by symptoms, conditions etc.

Chiropractors look at life in a completely unique way through which medicine does not accept nor look into and the focus here is to:
  1. Provide a better structure (within and between the bodies listed above) so one could function better
  2. Bring back coherency and coordination as stated above
  3. Promote inborn healing to a “system of bodies (the 4 lower bodies)”
We serve simply as instruments that stimulate the inborn healer within you by releasing that which was an obstacle to it. … and in doing so, health is regained.

So yes people do come in with all sorts of conditions. In observing the person, we look at the underlying discord - of which a lot of times they are unaware of - but often times is linked to their concerns and many times more things beyond their concern. And so when this is released people end up receiving much more than what they initially came in for.
